Materials:

  • Copied poinsettia construction paper with cut out lines
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Glitter
  • Trays to sprinkle glitter over
  • Popcorn kernels
  • Bottles glue

You can read a book with the class if you think there is time.  Maybe there is a fun holiday book you would like to share, or a holiday quiz game, or a book the teacher thinks would work well with the project.  Be creative!  You could always use this at the end of the class time when some kids have completed their project, and others have not.

Instructions:

  1. Have kids cut out flower pedals and circle shape.
  2. Glue pieces together making the flower pedals come together with a star in the center of the circle, follow the pattern on the circle.
  3. Have the kids put stripes of glue where they want glitter to go- one color at a time.  Have them bring their project up to the glitter table where an adult will sprinkle glitter over glue mark.  Return to their table where they will continue until they have decorated as desired.
  4. Have kids put glue in the center to hold 5 pieces of popcorn
