Materials:
- 9×12 Construction Paper
- Pencils
- Frog Stencils
- Water-based Markers
- Black Sharpie Markers
- Wiggly Eyes
- Scissors
Set Up:
- Each student will receive a piece of construction paper, a pencil, a set of wiggly eyes, a Sharpie Marker and scissors.
- Equip each table with a variety of water-based markers and frog stencils, and a couple of glue sticks.
Class Discussion:
- Begin your class with a brief discussion about Line – how line creates form/shape, pattern and texture in a piece of artwork and in nature. Share the Fun Facts about Frogs information with your students.
Project Time:
- Instruct your students to select a frog template to trace with their pencil.
- Once traced, outline it with a Black Sharpie Marker.
- Fill in the frog’s body with a variety of lines and patterns using markers. Stress that their frogs will look more interesting and fun if they use a variety of lines/patterns – as well as colors.
- Once their frogs have been filled in, instruct students to cut out their frogs.
- Finally, have students glue a set of wiggly eyes on their frogs.
